Head of research and development

In 2001, I graduated with a DEUG diploma (Two year university diploma) in Material Science (University of Marne la Vallée, Champs-sur-Marne). I was the Laureate of the Concours Commun Polytechnique which enabled me to follow engineering studies in the ENSCI (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Céramique Industrielle) a higher education establishment of industrial ceramics in Limoges from 2001 to 2004. My education was mainly centered on the knowledge of ceramic materials with an emphasis on the materials for surface mounted electronic components used in the biomedical and microelectronic sectors, for example.
The end of my studies coincided with the opportunity for the creation of a company in association with a young doctor. I am presently in charge of R&D in this company called CERADROP. The company manufactures special machines for jet printing in the domain of ceramic electronics. My job is to promote this very young technology, to promote it to the same level or have the same ranking as other underglaze ink manufacturers. In this way, my company is leading several collaborative research projects both in France and Europe involving many industrialists. I am responsible for these different projects and take part in the realization of specific inks and component prototypes by inkjet conform to well-defined specifications. I am also in charge of the services offered which consists in producing a small series of electronic components by inkjet printing.
I am therefore in direct contact with the clients, industrial partners and suppliers to define the specifications and/ take into account the technological advances. I also organize and participate in the meetings of each of the projects for a regular follow-up.
My multidisciplinary team can vary from 3 to 10 people. It includes the technicians and engineers, in mechanics, electronics, and material science as well as the doctorate students. This multidisciplinary aspect constitutes one of the many attractions of my work.
On leaving the university, my engineering studies were a superb springboard for me. I persevered, believing in my convictions and I made the right choice by entering the ENSCI. Many opportunities presented themselves all along my education.
Creating a company and so working for my own firm while still a young engineer remains a unique experience offered me because of my engineering studies. So if I were you, I wouldn’t hesitate in opting for this orientation as it means remaining open-minded, respecting as best as possible one’s professional project.
