The Fédération Gay-Lussac (FGL) offers two study options for entering high level schools of science and engineering: the Integrated Classes Préparatoires (CPI) so-called « classical route » and an international one: CHEM.I.ST (CHEMistry International STudies). These classes are possible in 4 sites in France: Clermont-Ferrand, Lille, Rennes and Strasbourg.
The principle is:
You enter one of the above three 4 CPIs after having obtained your baccalaureate (BAC). The admission is made by dossier (inscription on the website Admission Post-Bac ) and by interview on your motivation. After 2 years of classes préparatoires, you can then enter one of the 19 Schools in the FGL without any competitive entry exam (based on your ranking on completing the CPI and the continuous assessment marks).
The CHEM.I.ST programme addresses itself to young talented scientifically-minded people from anywhere in the world, French or foreign students, and offers them an international CPI during 2 years.
For more information go to: CHEM.I.ST
This type of study is advisable for students who want to go to a chemistry or chemical engineering school but who do not have a fixed school in mind.
For more information, go to: FGL preparatory classes .
Three schools in the Fédération Gay-Lussac (FGL) offer their own CPI, i.e. which permit you to enter only the schools chosen: CPE Lyon , ITECH Lyon and ESCOM in Compiègne.
For CPE Lyon and ESCOM admission is made via the « Concours Puissance 11 » (competitive entry) : http://www.concourspuissance11.fr. ITECH has its own recruitment process, go to http://www.itech.fr/ for more information.
Two other schools in the FGL (ENSIC and ENSIACET) are also accessible via the Préparatoires Polytechniques des 3 Instituts Nationaux Polytechniques (INP)
Two schools: ENSCBP in Bordeaux and ENSGTI in Pau also recruit through the CPI of the Université de Bordeaux
The 19 schools in the FGL recruit from the classes préparatoires TPC situated in 3 cities: Montpellier, Mulhouse and in the region of Paris.
Finally, INSA Rouen and Centrale Marseille offer other studies towards admission after the BAC for the former http://www.insa-france.fr/ and BAC+2 years of HE for the latter http://www.centrale-marseille.fr/
Do not hesitate to go to the Internet sites of these schools for more information on the methods of recruitment.
